Shaffer Residence in Tom Ford’s A Single Man

My previous posting featured the home of Julianne Moore. That got me thinking. Specifically about her last film – or at least the last one that I saw. Tom Ford’s A Single Man. I’d been told that the film was slow, but that’s specifically what I loved about it. Each scene was shot so beautifully – it was like watching a moving photography exhibit. I also couldn’t take my eyes off of Colin Firth’s (George’s) gorgeous mid-century home.

I expected to see amazing clothes given the director (and he did not disappoint)…but the house seriously caught my attention. The Shaffer Residence was designed by Architect John Lautner in 1949. It’s quite incredible, don’t you think? And there’s that Paavo Tynell pendant yet again! Some day…
