Our front door will be 10 feet tall. There’s a good chance it will swing too wide to allow for a pendant light in the entrance. But I’m hoping we can squeeze in one of these glass fixtures.
Below: Niche Modern Solitaire Pendant and Bell Jar Modern Pendant Light. Lovely!

Below: Disc Pendant by Alison Berger Glassworks for Holly Hunt. The entire collection is really stunning.
Below: Source unknown – but it’s simple enough, I’d hope to be able to track one of these down.
I’m learning to travel vicariously (or virtually) these days. Trips overseas are few and far between as of late, so I do what I can do get my fix. Online roaming has brought me to some unexpected spots. Despite my love for Scandinavian design, I have yet to make it to that part of the world (I’ve been awfully close, though). Copenhagen has been on my list for ages. I’d love to visit Stockholm. I admit, Helsinki was not really on my radar until recently.
When I do make a visit, I’ll be sure to visit these amazing looking locales.
Shown above, My o My is a “lifestyle” store offering fashion, design objects, jewelry, etc. They call themselves a “homebase for all kinds of creativity.” I love that. The store itself looks like a gallery and (from what I can tell) reminds me of one of my favourite spots in New York – Moss.
Lunch at the Sis Deli and Café would be lovely (Discovered via Designworklife)
Perhaps a stay at the Klaus K hotel would be in order
Ah, it would be nice. But, until then, I’ll continue to fuel my wanderlust by visiting Nestled In, a great interiors blog by two Finns.
I could also do some serious damage at the Finnish Design Shop. I’ll leave you with a couple of my favourite on-site items (don’t hold it against me that both were designed by Arne Jacobsen, a Dane!).
It’s funny how things that are right under your nose are often the most hard to find. Here I am, back in Toronto for over a year now, but it took Remodelista to direct me to one the best stores I’ve seen in this city.
Living in New York was different. I’d stumble upon incredible finds on daily walks. I admit, you have to do a bit more digging here, but there are great spots all over different nooks of the city. Entering Mjolk and chatting with its lovely owners (John and Juli) reaffirmed that for me. The store also cemented my claim that I love Scandinavian design. Love.
I’m Katherine Yaphe, the founder and designer behind Oliver Yaphe, Inc. This business was an idea in my mind for a long time. I knew that I wanted to build something, I just didn’t know how. I worked in the corporate world dreaming of what to do next. Then one day I decided to just start. I launched with rugs. Branched off to artwork. Paper came next. We’ll see what’s to come. What I do know, is there will be more.

I love being inspired to create. It doesn’t matter how big or small the undertaking, it’s more about this feeling that drives so much of what I do. This blog is my space to instill a bit of that energy to my readers. It’s a lofty goal. I might fail horribly. But every once in a while, something might click (or at least I hope so).
