Powder Room: Floating Vanity

I apologize, I haven’t been posting as much as usual. Probably because I’ve been spending hours trying to finalize some details on our powder room. No joke. You’d think figuring out of how make such a small room great would be simple. It probably should be and I really should have better things to do with my time (!) – but I sort of feel like this is the one room our house where I’m willing to take some risk. What I’m discovering is that I’m not entirely comfortable with risk.

What I’m also discovering is that it would have helped to have thought through every detail a bit more earlier in this process. Lighting placement was decided a long time ago, but now I’m realizing that a sconce smack in the middle might not have been the best choice. Flooring? Had I known that I was going to lean towards doing a really dark space, I might not have chosen a dark floor tile as well. Faucet placement and type – I would have done differently.

Anyhow, it is what it is. What I do know, is that I want to have a floating vanity. We have a pretty big space, all things considered. 6ft across. I sort of feel like the space is calling out for something floating.

So here are some shots that I’ve referred to to get some inspiration:
